The last destination for these holidays is Saint-Malo, which I visited with my cousin Carine.
We took the train at the Gare de Montparnasse on 28 May 2021 at 12:54 pm and the journey lasted 2h20.
Day 1
Once we arrived in Saint-Malo, we went to check-in at Oceania Hotel.
Our room has a nice view of the sea.
We rested a bit and then went for a walk along the beach of the Sillon, while the tide was still low, until we arrived in Saint-Malo intramuros located 15 minutes walk from our hotel.
We stopped at the Brasserie des Voyageurs where we had a beer and a plate of cold cuts. We then had a mojito and cream mussels with french fries.
The waiters were really lovely but that didn’t stop a group of young people behind us from running away after ordering drinks three times. They left without paying and voluntarily dumped their drinks on the table just before they ran away.
On our way back to the hotel, the tide was high and we were a bit wet by the waves, which were more or less big.

Day 2
After a generous breakfast at the hotel, we went out for a walk in Saint-Malo intramuros. We came across a group of young people who were having a bachelor party.
In the city-center, we walked by the place Jean de Châtillon with its church, we walked a little along the Remparts de Saint-Malo and we were able to take picture of the Enclos de la Résistance.

We then stopped at Philippe Bouvier’s where we tasted delicious macaroons (coconut, blackcurrant, pistachio, praline, vanilla, lemon, rose, raspberry, passion fruit, strawberry and violet).
We continued our walk on the beach and, since the tide was low, we were able to take a picture of the Fort National which is accessible only at low tide.
We took the bus n°6 to go to the Rochers de Rothéneuf. These are rocks carved in by the beach.
The bus ride lasted about 30 minutes then we had to walk 15 minutes to get to the rocks.
Access to the beach costs 2. 50 euros.
Once back to the city-centre, we wanted to have a small snack at La Licorne - Maison Hector which turned into dinner!
Oysters, buckwheat pancake with sausage and strawberry-basil iced tea for me, burrata with vegetables, buckwheat pancake with ham, cheese and potatoes and lemon-ginger iced tea for my cousin.
We went back to the hotel to rest a little then we went out 1 hour before the curfew to have a drink.
A lot of restaurants were no longer taking customers, but we managed to go to the Bistrot du Cartier for a beer. The manager was really nice and smiling and we were very surprised to have paid 6 euros for our two beers. We thought it was the price of a single beer when we paid. The prices are really different from the Parisian terraces.
