The Big Apple (New-York, USA)

After leaving Chicago the beautiful, I went to New York City, also known asthe Big Apple Apple. The city that everybody dreamt about with its yellow cabs, its skyscrapers, its long animated streets which enlightened by night.

I stayed overthere almost two weeks but I wanted to stay longer because there are so many things to see that you could go back each year!

Same as for Chicago, I was in Chinatown but I can tell you that this hotel is very different from the one in Chicago, no doubt! My chicagoan hotel was the best, I can assure you that!

The hotel does not seem like much in the day and blends into the scenary. Without any lift, I had to climb the numerous and narrow steps of the hotel to get to my room located on the last floor. I can assure you I was steaming once up there because my suitcase was heavy. I thought I could lie down into my room, well, if you could call that a room. It was more like a "big closet" in which only a small bed, a chest of drawers and a big suitcase could enter. So you couldn't put your clothes because the chest of drawers was a small piece of furniture with two shelves to put glasses, a glass of water and a toilet set!

Well, at least there was a TV on the wll but you could'nt see the 4 or 5 channels properly.

I saw on the Internet that the hotel was bad but I couldn't imagine it was that bad! There were two bathroom for the whole floor (at least 2 bedrooms) so it wasn't easy to soap oneself when you wanted to. And when you see the dirty and moldy floor, you quickly go to buy flip-flop! The toilet paper must be very expensive in the US because there wasn't much of it and the lavatories were often blocked! Well it was normal considering how many people were pooping each morning! If you didn't want to queue to have a shower, you needed to go early in the morning or the evening. And no need to drink to much water if you don't want to pee every five minutes! Or just wear a diaper but it's not very trendy!

Do not forget cockroaches and other bugs! At the beginning of my travel, I was scratching my legs and the last day I saw a cockroach in my room! I have to say, I could'nt sleep after that! Luckily, I always close my suitcase because I don't want to bring back a cockraoch family to France! I was a big surprise beacuse I saw an anti-bugs spray ext to the bathroom. And I forgot to mention that even the bucket and the mop broom were dirty!

It was noisy because you could hear people coughing, sneezing, talking to the phone or farting!

The only good point was the microwaves to eat hot dish. But you had to go downstairs and then upstairs with your bowl full of hot soup because it was in the lobby!

Chinatown is really cool because you can go to the supermarket or restaurants easily. There was an asian supermarket in which you could buy fresh sushis for only $5, good deal!

Next to Chinatown, you have Little Italy but no need to eat there because it's expensive and a tourist trap!

5th and 6th avenues

According to me, 5th and 6th avenues are like the Champs Elysées. You can find various shops where you can buy luxury, products, toys or high tech products.

Build-A-Bear, where you can make your own bear

Hot-dogs everywhere

Apple shop

Battery Park

Battery Park is next to the harbour where you can take the boat to go to the Statue of Liberty.

Columbus Park

Here is the Asian community gathering to play a game similar to chess. It's the only Chinatown park.

World Trade Center

Brooklyn Bridge

When you're in Manhattan, you just need to cross the bridge to go to Brooklyn. In less than 1h you'll be there if you don't take your time for some pictures of course!

Skyline

Chinatown

Central Park

Central Park is very famous in the US. It's huge and full of surprises: statues remembering fairy tales or historic characters, wonderful trees and flowers, baseball fields, lakes and cute and tiny squirrels!!

Balto

Alice in Wonderland

Romeo & Juliet

American Museum of Natural History

It's a wonderful museum, more beautiful than the Grande Galerie de l'Evolution in Paris. There are animal replicas in their natural habitat.
